How many times have you wondered, "What is the meaning of life? What is the purpose for human beings on this earth?" Other ways to ask this are: "Why was I born?" "Why am I alive?" These are valid and important questions and God answers them.
Over 40 years ago I asked the same questions, although I thought no one on earth knew or could know the answers. I assumed that there was no absolute truth that could provide answers for my questions. No one in my family knew nor did the minister of my church know.
Later, when I was studying for my master's degree in communication at California State University, Fullerton, I discovered that some of my professors believed that truth is as one views it. That is to say, my personal worldview is the truth to me; your personal worldview is truth to you. In general, the world thinks that truth is as you perceive it. But is that true?
Some months back I began discussing with Scott Ashley—managing editor of The Good News magazine—about writing an article addressing how the entire world is now held captive by a great unseen force, Satan the devil. He agreed (see the November-December cover story "A World Held Captive: Soon to Be Set Free"). This to me was a labor of love since the answer to why we're born on this earth has been hidden by the one the Bible calls "the god of this age" (2 Corinthians 4:4).
Satan is the great deceiver and destroyer of human life. His avowed purpose is to wipe human beings from this earth. You must understand this Bible truth in order to make sense of why the world is so confused, violent and corrupt.
For nearly 6,000 years, Satan has blinded humankind from the unvarnished truth of Almighty God, especially the truth that shows God's purpose for humanity. He began blinding the world beginning with Adam and Eve.
He's done such an effective job, most human beings peremptorily ignore and reject the scriptural truth on this subject. Worse yet, Satan has influenced people, throughout history, to martyr God's saints after they told the truth about humanity's future while exposing Satan's hidden agenda. Further, Satan has brainwashed human beings to think they have no future when he knows that God has provided a divine process for human immortality and that one day we will judge people and angels. What angers Satan most is that human beings, as future immortal sons of God, will one day help govern angels.
The Good News magazine places in your hands the truth of eternity, the eternal treasures of God, free of charge. This is God's will. Jesus said that we could know the truth and the truth would set us free (from Satan, from sin and from a blinded society). We hope that you will take good advantage of God's truths that are greater than all of the silver and gold in the world.
You can be set free from the ways of this world, for God has opened Satan's prison doors that have held us captive. Now is the time to walk through the doors that God has opened to you and begin enjoying the fresh air of God's liberating truths.
